Max von Schillings: Beethoven Pastorale (Odeon, 1929)

Ook Max von Schillings (Düren, 19.04.1868 - Berlijn, 24.07.1933) nam de Pastorale van Beethoven op, ruim een jaar na de opname van Franz Schalk. De opname is op 6 Odeon-platen uitgebracht, i.t.t. op 5 HMV's bij Franz Schalk. Max von Schillings doet 42:03 over de symfonie, Franz Schalk 38:40. Oordeel zelf waarnaar uw voorkeur uitgaat!
Op Youtube is een mooie uitvoering te zien uit 1932 van de Wilhelm Tell Ouverture van Rossini met Max von Schillings als dirigent.

    Thanks much for offering this performance!

    Very nice work on these Odeon sides. Many early Odeon electricals are a bit odd sounding, as if the engineers were still wrestling with the relatively new recording technology and recording venues. They sound oddly similar to 'light-ray' recordings, like Brunswick and early Grammophon issues.

      No, I do not have a blog...the closest I come are postings on the 78 community board and the symphonyshare group (I used to post to RMCR, but that group became tedious, with many members attacking each other over a variety of issues)

      As much as I enjoy transferring older recordings, my writing style is rather dull, so any blog entries would be a bore to the reader!
